📹 What is in the Viral Video?
The viral footage, which circulated widely on platforms like X (formerly Twitter) and local WhatsApp groups in mid-June 2026, shows a visibly distressed 24-year-old woman crying and pleading, “Chhodo mujhe” (“Let me go”).
In the clip, a man—identified by police as her former school classmate—is seen forcefully holding her while chanting religious verses, blowing on her face, and performing what the victim alleges was a forced religious conversion and black magic ritual.
⚖️ The Allegations and the FIR
The victim, a property dealer whose husband is an officer in the Indian Armed Forces (IAF) stationed in another city, filed a formal complaint at the Sonegaon police station. Her harrowing allegations outline a months-long ordeal of abuse:
-
Drugging and Blackmail: According to the FIR, the primary accused, Ayyaz Taj Madare, approached the victim in February under the guise of needing help with a property deal. She alleges he spiked her drink at a hotel, secretly recorded compromising videos of her while she was unconscious, and used the footage to blackmail her.
-
Extortion: Over several months, the accused allegedly extorted nearly ₹4 lakh from the victim by threatening to release the videos online and send them to her husband.
-
Forced Rituals and Assault: The complaint states that the accused subjected her to repeated sexual assault and rituals he claimed were “hypnosis and black magic.”
-
Forced Conversion: The situation culminated on May 31, 2026, when the victim was allegedly taken to Kalmeshwar. There, a cleric (Maulana) conducted a religious conversion ceremony against her will. She claims she was forced to say “Qabul hai” (I accept) and was subsequently declared married to Madare without her consent.
🚓 Police Action and Investigation
Following the viral circulation of the video and the woman’s formal complaint, the Nagpur Police took immediate action:
-
Arrests Made: Police have arrested two individuals: Ayyaz Taj Madare (26) and his associate Ameen Shaikh (30).
-
Suspect at Large: A third accused, identified as Hazrat Maulana from Madhya Pradesh’s Chhindwara district—who allegedly performed the forced conversion—is currently absconding. Police teams are actively searching for him.
-
Ongoing Probe: Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Rushikesh Reddy confirmed that authorities are treating the case with severe urgency. Law enforcement has seized mobile phones to gather digital evidence, verify financial transactions, and analyze the viral videos forensically.
The accused have been booked under multiple severe sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) relating to rape, extortion, and criminal intimidation, as well as under the strict provisions of the Maharashtra Anti-Superstition and Black Magic Act.
🛡️ A Note on Digital Safety and Privacy
Because the core of this crime involved the non-consensual recording and weaponization of a woman’s private moments, authorities and digital rights advocates are strongly urging the public not to share or circulate the viral video. Sharing the footage not only violates the survivor’s privacy and dignity but can also interfere with the ongoing legal proceedings.
