Haliey Welch, famously known as the “Hawk Tuah Girl,” skyrocketed to internet stardom in June 2024 after her viral street interview with Tim & Dee TV, where her cheeky “hawk tuah” catchphrase took social media by storm. The Tennessee native capitalized on her fame, launching the “Talk Tuah” podcast, merchandise, and even throwing the first pitch at a Mets game.

The $HAWK Meme Coin Disaster

In December 2024, Welch launched her meme coin, $HAWK, which hit a market cap of $490 million before crashing by 95% within hours. The fallout was swift, with investors, many of whom were her fans, reportedly losing $151,000. A lawsuit filed in New York accused overHere Ltd., its founder Clinton So, influencer Alex Larson Schultz, and the Tuah The Moon Foundation of unlawfully promoting an unregistered cryptocurrency, sparking “rug pull” allegations.

Social Media Silence and Return

Following the scandal, Welch went dark, with no Instagram or X posts since December 20, 2024, and no new “Talk Tuah” episodes since December 3. She reemerged in March 2025, addressing the controversy in a Vanity Fair interview and her podcast, expressing regret: “I hate that that’s even a thing. Half of those people that [bought] it were, like, my fans. They trusted me.” The SEC cleared her of fraud, but an FBI investigation reportedly followed, as discussed in a recent Talk Tuah episode with friend Chelsea Bradford.

The Comeback Trail

Welch is now rebuilding her brand. She’s secured a cameo in Glen Powell’s Hulu series Chad Powers and announced a documentary with Bungalow Media + Entertainment. Despite criticism from YouTuber CoffeeZilla and streamer Asmongold, who declared her career “over,” Welch is cooperating with investors’ legal teams and advising those affected to contact Burwick Law.
