Ibom Air Incident Full Video
In a dramatic escalation aboard an Ibom Air flight from Uyo to Lagos on August 10, 2025, passenger Comfort Emmanson, also known as Comfort Bob, was involved in a heated altercation that has sparked nationwide debate on aviation safety, passenger rights, and alleged double standards in Nigeria’s justice system. The incident, captured in multiple viral videos, shows Emmanson allegedly assaulting a flight attendant and clashing with airport security, leading to her arrest, a lifetime flight ban, and remand in Kirikiri Correctional Centre. However, emerging eyewitness accounts suggest the flight crew may have contributed to the provocation, raising questions about accountability on all sides.
The confrontation began shortly before takeoff when Emmanson was instructed to switch off her mobile phone, in line with standard aviation safety protocols. She reportedly refused, prompting the pilot to make an announcement. A fellow passenger then took her phone and turned it off, which Emmanson perceived as an infringement, leading to a verbal outburst. The flight proceeded without further disruption, but tensions reignited upon landing in Lagos.
According to Ibom Air’s official statement, Emmanson waited until all other passengers disembarked before confronting the purser (lead flight attendant). She allegedly physically assaulted the attendant by pulling off her wig and glasses, throwing them to the floor, and striking her with a shoe. Airport security was alerted, but Emmanson continued her aggressive behavior, lashing out at both Ibom Air staff and Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) personnel. Videos show her being forcibly restrained and removed from the aircraft, during which her clothing tore, exposing her upper body—a clip that quickly went viral and drew widespread condemnation for violating her dignity.
Emmanson was handed over to the Nigeria Police Force for investigation. On August 11, she was arraigned at the Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on five criminal charges, including assault, and remanded in Kirikiri prison after failing to provide adequate sureties. Ibom Air submitted a report to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and imposed a lifetime travel restriction on her, a decision echoed by the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON), which banned her from all local and international flights.
While Ibom Air maintains that Emmanson’s actions posed a “serious threat” to safety, several eyewitness videos and reports paint a more complex picture. One viral clip, shared widely on social media, features a passenger recounting how the flight attendant allegedly smashed Emmanson’s phone, labeled her a “prostitute,” and incited others against her, including accusing a pastor who intervened on her behalf of being an accomplice. The attendant is also accused of blocking the exit to prevent Emmanson from disembarking, escalating the situation.
Netizens have reacted strongly, with many questioning the attendant’s professionalism. Comments on platforms like X (formerly Twitter) include calls for a balanced investigation: “I knew something triggered her behavior… That’s unprofessional,” one user noted. Another added, “The air hostess looking like a troublesome person… Why make a video showing her [exposed]?” These accounts suggest the incident may have stemmed from mutual provocation, though assault remains unjustifiable.
Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo condemned Emmanson’s “unruly” behavior but also criticized the leakage of the indecent video, calling it a “debasement of womanhood.” He ordered sanctions against the Ibom Air official responsible for the leak and directed airlines to enhance staff training in handling volatile situations. Keyamo emphasized that aggrieved passengers should seek redress through the NCAA’s Consumer Protection Directorate rather than resorting to violence, warning of strict penalties like flight bans and prosecution.
NCAA Director of Public Affairs Mike Achimugu addressed comparisons to a similar incident involving Fuji musician KWAM1 (King Wasiu Ayinde Marshall), who allegedly disrupted a ValueJet flight but faced no charges because the airline did not pursue legal action. In Emmanson’s case, Ibom Air activated its right to press charges, leading to swift consequences. Achimugu called for eyewitnesses to come forward for a fair investigation and stressed the need for improved protocols.
Former presidential candidate Peter Obi highlighted the “double standards” in the system, noting how the poor are punished harshly while the powerful evade accountability. “Justice must be equal for all,” he stated, advocating for compassion and rehabilitation.
FAAN issued an advisory reminding passengers of their responsibilities, including compliance with safety rules, and warned that unruly behavior could lead to prosecution under NCAA regulations and FAAN bye-laws. Offenses like tampering with equipment or carrying prohibited items carry severe penalties.

This incident underscores ongoing challenges in Nigeria’s aviation sector, including passenger conduct, staff training, and equitable enforcement of rules. As investigations continue, calls for transparency and reform grow louder, with many hoping it leads to safer, fairer air travel for all.
